Q: “Is it much different playing a guitar than a piano? Do you think differently, do you conceive differently?”

A: “Well, there is a difference in playing with a player like Jim or Ed, for instance. It's a matter of volume. With the guitar, you don't have a great amount of flexibility with the volume. You have to turn a knob to turn it up and when you turn that knob to turn up the volume well, then you might not get the exact sound you want, so you have to have some kind of ... it seems to me that you have some kind of a boundary that you have to stay into.”
