Q: “How did you change [during time away from jazz scene]? You said people asked you ‘what do you sound like now?’. What did not singing do to your singing?”
A: “Well, I like to think that I kept up to date with the musical thing, you know, like what's happening today. For instance, I like to sing some of the contemporary songs. Paul Williams is one of my favorite writers. There are a lot of good songs around today, so I sing the songs of today as well as the old things, the old standards and try to do them in my style, whatever that is.”
