Q: “You’ve always been blessed on your recordings with good accompaniment…”

A: “And also blessed with people who, you know, helped me in the background. There has always been someone there to help me, you know. Ralf Gleason, for instance, back in the late 50s. He was responsible for getting my first album out on the market because it was just sitting on a shelf with no release date for a whole year and they released the album and it became a hit album, you know. So … which put me on the map.”
