Robi Botos
Biography
ROBI BOTOS (pianist,composer) Hungarian born Botos, raised in a musical family and largely self taught is deemed by many to be a worthy successor to Oscar Peterson. His dynamic performances have earned him international recognition – winning competitions in Montreux, Paris and Jacksonville’s, Florida’s Great American piano competition in 2008. A t the National Jazz Awards in 2007 he was chosen Keyboardist of the Year and was nominated for a Juno award for “One Take” in 2006. A member of Archie Alleyne’s bebop ensemble “Kollage” and a respected and sought after sideman, Botos also performs frequently with his brother, drummer Frank Botos in a trio setting.
Robi was featured at the “Music of Art Tatum” concert on March 16, 2009 as part of the Sound of Toronto jazz series.
